I am a first-generation student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. I am involved in the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) as the fundraising chair, Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) secretary, as well as the sisterhood chair for Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority Incorporated. I'm part of the 2023-2024 College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) cohort and I transitioned to TRiO SSS after. I love being involved on campus and trying new things.
My biggest advice to incoming students would be to try everything. Get involved as much as you can because it opened the doors to meet so many different people with different mindsets that challenge your own every day. During my time at ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ State, I've enjoyed participating in different organizations that have each impacted me in different ways.
During the past two summers I've had the opportunity to explore my degree more through internships where I've been able to gain that hands-on experience. I've been able to go out on the field and apply my knowledge into the real world.

A website I would encourage would be LinkedIn. It's used all over by many students and professionals. It's another way to stay connected in a less formal way.
