Biography
William Tebeau received his BS in Chemical Engineering in 1948 as the first African-American graduate from ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ State College. Mr. Tebeau then pursued a license as a Civil Engineer on his own time and was later hired by the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ State Highway Department. In 1970, he was granted the Teacher of the Year for his part-time work as an Instructor at Chemeketa Community College.
Mr. Tebeau also had the honor of receiving Employee of the Year by the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ State Employees Association in 1971. He retired from the State Highway Department in 1984 after 36 years, leaving an exceptional impact on the department.
