Wilfrid Johnson was employed by General Electric from 1930 until his retirement in 1966. Early assignments with GE included refrigeration, turbo-superchargers, jet engines, and air conditioning. From 1942 on, he was Manager of several GE components before becoming Assistant General Manager of the Hanford Atomic Products Operations, and then General Manager a year later. He was appointed a member of the Atomic Energy Commission on July 5, 1966, and reappointed for a new five-year term on June 8, 1967. He was a Fellow of ASME, and a member of several other professional and honor societies. He received an honorary DSc from OSU in 1959 and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1968. Dr. Johnson passed away in 1985.
