Before graduating from OSU, Steve Meek served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946. He began his career as a design engineer for Bonneville Power Administration, before joining Osborne Electric Company, later known as OECO. During a 33-year career at OECO, Meek served as President and Chief Executive Officer, successfully guiding the company from its original Portland site to a new expanded facility in Milwaukie. A strong supporter of the MECOP internship program, Meek was very active in community affairs, including the American Electronics Association, Providence Milwaukie Hospital, and the End of the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ Trail Interpretive Center in ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ City. He was a great grandson of ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ pioneer Joseph L. Meek and his Nez Perce wife, known as Virginia. Mr. Meek passed away on January 14, 2004.
