Biography

After graduating from OSU with bachelor’s of arts and bachelor’s of science degrees in chemical engineering in 1982, Scott Stevenson received a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he worked in the area of heterogeneous catalysis. Following a year as a NATO postdoctoral fellow in physical chemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, Stevenson spent eight years at the Central Research Lab of Mobil Oil, where his research in catalysis and process chemistry addressed problems in emissions control and fuels processing.

In 1997 he joined the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) as they opened a research lab in Houston, Texas. At SABIC he directs projects in catalysis and new process development for the production of basic chemicals. Stevenson is the author of a book on catalysis as well as 15 journal articles, and has been granted 17 U.S. patents.
