Biography

Scott Franz is a Senior Nuclear Engineer in Reactor Safety Analysis for Framatome ANP Richland Inc. He earned his MS and PhD in Nuclear Engineering from OSU in 1994 and 1997, respectively. Franz has quickly become a leader in the research and development of nuclear reactor licensing methodologies for fuel reload safety analysis and design on both boiling water and pressurized water reactors. He was instrumental in the development of a major new film boiling convective heat transfer coefficient correlation that now bears his name, the Richert-Franz correlation. He is the author of numerous papers in technical journals and has chaired sessions at professional meetings.

Franz has also been a steadfast supporter of OSU's Nuclear Engineering department through his activities as a seminar speaker, industrial recruiter, and intern mentor.
