Roger Nielsen is chief operating officer for Freightliner LLC, with responsibility for their entire North American truck manufacturing network, as well as all levels of operations in manufacturing, information technology, purchasing logistics, customer application engineering, and truck order administration. He was appointed COO in 2001. He joined Freightliner in 1986 and has since held positions of increasing responsibility, including a transfer to Daimler Chrysler in Germany in 1998 where he served as director of Production Network Planning and Technical Clearing, within the Commercial Vehicles Division before assuming the position of general manager of Operations at Western Star Trucks in 2000. Roger was promoted in 2001 to president of Freightliner Specialty Vehicles Group, responsible for Freightliner's American LaFrance, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, and Thomas Built Buses business units.
