After graduating in 1942, Bob Lundeen served in World War II in China as a weather officer with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He advanced to the rank of Major and earned a Bronze Star. He joined Dow Chemical as a research and development engineer in 1946 and rose to executive vice president in 1978 and chairman of the board in 1982, retiring in 1986. He served on the board of directors of Tektronix Corporation from 1985 to 1991 and as chairman of the board from 1987 to 1991. He took direct control of Tektronix in 1990 as chief executive officer, initiating the company's financial turnaround. A Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, he has many honors, including the OSU Distinguished Service Award in 1983 and the Alumni Association's E.B. Lemon Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1997. Mr. Lundeen is an advocate for higher education, public policy, and community improvement. He is a long-time supporter of many programs at OSU and has served as an Advisory Board member for Chemical Engineering and the College of Engineering.
