Biography

Dick Nichols is the son of an ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ State Electrical Engineering faculty member, who through professionalism in the workplace and service to the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers has brought recognition and kudos to his alma mater. Immediately after graduation, Dick worked as an applications engineer with the General Electric Company before joining CH2M Hill in 1957--a move which enabled his relocation to Corvallis. For the next 40 years he worked on, and managed, such diverse projects as some of the world's largest pumps in the City of Los Angeles waste treatment facilities and the electrification of the Westside Portland Max transit system. He has received numerous honors for service to IEEE including the Centennial Award (1984) and Distinguished Service Award (1989). Mr. Nichols became a Fellow of IEEE in 1987 and was President of the Industry Applications Society in 1985.
