Biography

An eminent sanitary engineer, Percy McGauhey began his career at OSU, followed by graduate degrees at Wisconsin and Utah State. His career focused in academe, including appointments at Virginia Polytechnical Institute, the University of Southern California, and the University of California at Berkley. He served as Department Head of Civil Engineering at both VPI and Cal. Dr. McGauhey's technical interests included many environmental concerns such as water reclamation, pollutant transport, solid waste management and lake eutrophication, for which he was a consultant to the US Agency for International Development and several foreign countries. He has been honored by the Water Pollution Control Federation and the American Public Works Association and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1973. Dr. McGauhey passed away in 1975.
