Biography

As past chairman of CH2M Hill and past president of the American Society of Civil Engineers, James Poirot is one of this country's most respected engineering leaders. A member of the prestigious National Academy of Engineers, just a few of his many other distinguished positions include president of the American Consulting Engineers Council, vice president of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, member of the US Delegation to the UN General Assembly on Sustainable Development, chair of the first ABET Industrial Advisory Board, and member of our College's Advisory Board.

Jim has also served as a member of the OSU Alumni Board,as chair of the Long Range Planning Committee that recommended the development of an Alumni Center,and, chair of the CH2M Hill Alumni Center Building Campaign. He has been honored by many groups and has been extremely generous with his time and talents, both to OSU and to the profession at large.
