Before earning his BS and joining the faculty, Hal Pritchett worked for the Bureau of Public Roads, the Army Corps of Engineers, and served in the U.S. Army in Japan and the Philippines. He also holds an MS in Hydraulic Engineering from OSU, and the degree of Engineer in Economic Planning from Stanford. Pritchett served on the faculty for 45 years prior to retiring in 2002, and he founded and led the Construction Engineering Management (CEM) program for most of that time.
He continues to serve the College, sitting on the College Advisory Board, the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ AGC Board of Directors, and the OSU Alumni Board. He has received numerous honors, including the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ section of ASCE’s 1989 Engineer of the Year Award and the 2003 Golden Beaver Award—the most prestigious award among those involved in heavy-engineering construction. He is only the third educator to receive this recognition.
