Prior to receiving his master’s degree at OSU in 1997, David Rynders earned a bachelor’s in physics from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He is currently an active duty Army Lieutenant Colonel stationed in Germany with more than 11 years of Radiation Safety experience, including field work in sample collection and analysis, staff training, site safety plan development and implementation, and regulatory compliance. He has served in Iraq, Kuwait, and Europe, as well as stateside.
He and his project team received a citation from the U.S. Secretary of Defense for meritorious achievement for their environmental restoration efforts at Johnson Atoll, where Rynders made it possible for OSU students and staff to actively participate in the survey effort.
