Al McSwain received a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1964. He is currently Senior Vice President for Harris Group, Inc., a company he has been with for 16 years. He has over 35 total years of engineering and management experience including design, field engineering, project management, and company management. McSwain previously held positions of Vice President & Chief Technology Officer and Corporate Manager of Engineering. He had previous employment with Sandwell International Inc. and Longview Fibre Company. The Harris Group is a major engineering firm headquartered in Seattle with offices in Portland. It is ranked as the largest consulting engineering firm, by number of employees, in Portland. McSwain was also instrumental in helping OSU-PSU formulate their joint Masters of Manufacturing Engineering program in the early 1990s.
