Biography

BSCE 1949 - CCE

After serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII, Adam Heineman worked for the Corps of Engineers, Portland District Dredging Division. He worked on the Bocono Dam Project in Venezuela for R. J. Tipton Associated Engineers before joining Bechtel Corp., constructing dams on California’s American River. Heineman later served as Marine Manager at the Port of Portland, returning to the Corps of Engineers in 1972 as Chief of the Navigation Division in charge of dredging operations and dams. Following the Mt. St. Helens eruption, he was responsible for cleanup dredging operations on the Columbia River. Heineman also worked with the U.N. and the U.S. Agency for International Development in Thailand, Sudan, Argentina and elsewhere on water projects, and in 1988 retired from the Corps of Engineers. He passed away in 1994.
