Environmental Engineering

For the life of the planet

Innovation for a sustainable tomorrow

Environmental engineers protect and improve all aspects of our fragile environment and the systems that support life on Earth.

Our faculty are in the forefront of efforts to improve and preserve access to clean water for current and future generations. Their research, covering surface water, groundwater, municipal water, and wastewater, explores solutions to challenges like cleaning up chlorinated solvents, recovering energy from organic wastes, and tracking the spread of antibiotic resistance in sewer systems. Our Clean Water Technology Initiative provides support for these and other vital projects and creates research opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.
