Accreditation
Engineering Accreditation Commission
The Bachelor of Science and Honors Bachelor of Science in Ecological Engineering degree programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of , under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Ecological and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
Program Educational Objectives
Our educational objectives were developed to link the Department’s mission to student outcomes. The outcomes are then supported by the specific course learning objectives:
Be employed as practicing engineers, engaged in advanced studies, or applying engineering problem-solving skills within non-traditional career paths.
Bring creative and systems-level approaches that support resilient ecosystems and communities.
Develop and apply leadership skills to guide teams and projects through effective communication and innovative designs across disciplines.
Student Outcomes
The OSU Biological & Ecological Engineering department prepares its EcoE graduates to achieve Program Educational Objectives through developing the following abilities while enrolled in the EcoE program, as established by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of :
An ability to identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science and mathematics.
An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental and societal contexts.
An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks and meet objectives.
Ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
Ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
